Deadline: Footsteps of Ernie Pyle travel course application
The deadline was extended for The Media School’s spring field experience course “From London to Paris: In the Footsteps of Ernie Pyle.” The semester-long course includes spring break travel to London, England, and Normandy and Paris, France.
“Sea Point Days” screening
7 p.m.
Moving Image Archive, Wells Library 048
“Sea Point Days” (2008), directed by François Verster, gives a record of life in Cape Town, South Africa’s most segregated city, through a space where everyone seems to come together.
The screening is part of this season’s Filmmaker to Filmmaker series exploring the work of South African-based filmmakers Verster and Jahmil X.T. Qubeka, both leaders in the industry.
The event is co-sponsored by The Media School’s Black Film Center/Archive and Center for Documentary Research and Practice.

The fourth InLight Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, co-sponsored by The Media School, will feature screenings and conversations with five contemporary documentary filmmakers intended to raise awareness and foster dialogue related to socio-political issues.
The screenings are free but require a ticket.​
“Of Good Report” screening
7 p.m.
Moving Image Archive, Wells Library 048
“Of Good Report,” directed by Jahmil X. T. Qubeka, tells the story of an affair between an introverted high school teacher in South Africa and a student that ends in tragic consequences.
The screening is part of this season’s Filmmaker to Filmmaker series, which explores the work of South African-based filmmakers Qubeka and François Verster, both leaders in the industry.
The Media School’s Black Film Center/Archive and Center for Documentary Research and Practice are event co-sponsors.

Deadline: Ross Hazeltine Travel Scholarship application
The Ross Hazeltine Travel Scholarship provides funding for travel or study outside the territorial limits of the United States, Canada or Mexico. Applicants must be in their senior year 2019-20 and planning to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree by August 2020.

Thollem McDonas performance

Luddy Hall: The Dorsey Learning Hall, Room 1106
Composer and pianist Thollem McDonas will perform acoustic and electric piano music alongside video projections by ACVilla.
The performance, part of McDonas’ North American tour, is co-sponsored by The Media School’s Media Arts and Production and Cinema and Media Studies units.

Study abroad scholarship

Deadline: Nov. 15
The Media School has limited funding to support undergraduate scholarships for students who plan to study abroad. Some opportunities are restricted to specific countries, areas of study and financial need.

Margaret H. Knote Advertising Award

Deadline: Dec. 1
The Margaret H. Knote Advertising Award is available to Media School students interested in creative advertising copywriting. To be considered, submit five pieces of creative copy for any media, including traditional print ads, video/TV scripts, storyboards and press releases. The first-place winner will receive $5,000, with prizes for second and third place as well.
